Planning a trip to the city can be a hassle with traffic and parking logistics. A group at the Oakton Community Center has organized a stress-free ice skating trip to the Maggie Daley Ribbon. The fee includes staff supervision, round-trip transportation, skating, and pizza at Giordano’s. It’s a great option for working parents who are looking for something fun for their children to do over their winter break.
Willow Hill’s Winter Magic Drive-Thru Christmas Lights Event

Pack up your car and drive over to Northbrook for Willow Hill’s first-ever drive-thru Christmas lights event. This family-friendly celebration will feature over one million lights on various displays like snowmen and penguins, decorated tunnels, and 50 Christmas trees. The event runs seven days a week and one ticket is good for an entire car-full of people.

This German-inspired holiday market is a Chicago winter classic. After going virtual in 2020, the event has returned to Daley Plaza for over a month. Sip some spiced glühwein out of the market’s famous boot mugs as you venture through the rows of vendors selling handmade gifts. For anyone who is unable to attend, the market will still have a virtual component that allows people to order their gifts and goodies online.

This 170,000 square-foot winter wonderland has activities for children and adults. With a holiday beer garden, kiddie train rides, ice skating, and a gift market– there are plenty of ways to stay entertained. There are more than 600,000 lights on display, making it the Chicago area’s largest indoor light show. Each ticket to this event includes a ride on Navy Pier’s iconic Ferris wheel with enclosed and heated gondolas.
