Living in Woodstock, IL
Woodstock is a Chicago suburb that’s located in McHenry County Illinois. Home to more than 25,000 residents, Woodstock is about 45-miles from Chicago, with its own historic downtown district and town square. Several years ago, the National Trust for Historic Preservation named Woodstock as one of its Dozen Distinctive Destinations, primarily for its local experiences, as well as its commitment to revitalization and preservation. As for what else makes Woodstock unique, the city once had factories that built more than half of the typewriters in the world, and it was famously shown in more recent time as the backdrop for the movie “Groundhog Day”. Some of the city’s top employers include McHenry County, the local school district, and Northwestern Memorial Hospital. For commuters, Woodstock has a stop on Metra’s Union Pacific Northwest Line, which travels to and from Downtown Chicago. Local schools are part of Woodstock Community Unit School District 200.
