ABOUT HYDE PARK

More than 120 years after the 1893 Chicago World's Fair was hosted in Hyde Park, the neighborhood still stands as a profound corner of historical and social importance in Chicago.   Hyde Park is home to The University of Chicago, The Museum of Science and Industry, and the DuSable Museum of African American History, making it an incredibly popular South Side neighborhood for locals and visitors. Nearby Jackson Park will soon be home to the Obama Presidential Center.   Discover works of art at Hyde Park Art Center, grab a cup of coffee at Sip & Savor or Harper Cafe, taste test the brews at Hyde Park Brewing Company, or enjoy dinner and dancing at The Promontory. Relax on the lakefront at Promontory Point, where views of the Chicago skyline will take your breath away.

    HYDE PARK'S Community info

The 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, made Hyde Park his home when residing in Chicago. His stately home is still in the neighborhood, along with Frank Lloyd Wright's Frederick C. Robie House, the latter of which offers tours to curious visitors.   Along with a few famous homes, the largest single family homes, often on double-wide lots, can be found in Hyde Park. The styles of these homes vary greatly: from modern new construction homes to cozy homes with wrap-around front porches. Pre-war high rises and walk-ups can also be found amongst the tree lined streets of Hyde Park.
