Settle into the luxe life in the Gold Coast. The name of this neighborhood fits better than most, considering the area is one of the country's most prosperous neighborhoods, built from the ashes of the Great Chicago Fire. In 1882, Potter Palmer came to Chicago and filled in a swampy area we know to now be Lake Shore Drive, and built his massive Palmer Mansion, which used to be the largest private residence in the entire city. Palmer's affluence was the start of the Gold Coast becoming Chicago's wealthiest neighborhood. 

Do you love high-end shopping? Stroll down Oak Street and stop in for a pair of showstopping heels at Jimmy Choo, the perfect timepiece at Geneva Seal, or an iconic wardrobe at Chanel. Window shopping in the winter is ideal here, too, when the streets are alight with twinkling lights that reflect off the snow.

Marvel at the streets lined with historic and architecturally incredible mansions before dining at many famed and raved about restaurants in the area, such as ritzy and airy 3 Arts Club Cafe or the iconic Tavern on Rush.
