Get To Know: Logan Square

On the city’s north side rests Logan Square, currently one of the city’s most booming and evolving neighborhoods. A large part of this neighborhood’s personality is attributed to the “local” aspect: a diverse selection of local restaurants, gourmet coffee shops, historic bars, unique cocktail lounges, and eclectic boutiques.

Logan Square has become a hub of the city’s culinary and nightlife scenes, attracting Chicagoans and tourists who come to visit the acclaimed restaurants and bars that are seemingly always open. Broad and leafy Logan Boulevard are as historic as it is impressive. Lined on either side by graystone mansions, bungalows, and greystone churches, the boulevards have become commonplace for its residents, they host the Logan Square Farmer’s Market, picnics, and cookouts in Chicago’s warmer months. Lesser-known Palmer Square is where the locals go to picnic, walk their dogs, and enjoy the greenery. At the epicenter of Logan Square is the Illinois Centennial Monument. Topped by its stately eagle, it stands tall over the neighborhood. Below is a list of the neighborhood’s top attractions!

However, the residential and realty landscape is quickly changing as the neighborhood is also in the midst of a rapid transformation, with new construction along Milwaukee Avenue and the nearby Bloomingdale Trail reshaping the physical environment. Thus many of its homes are sought after, and priced accordingly. While many single-family detached homes are abundant, there are also many vintage and new construction apartment buildings making renting a viable option as well. In April 2022, Logan Square home prices were up 19.5% compared to last year, selling for a median price of $520K. The average rental price is $1,800.
