James established the Gavin Rental Group because he knows firsthand how daunting it can be to navigate the Chicago rental market. He wants the apartment search to feel fun and approachable; his role is to leverage his 19+ years of leasing experience to take all of the stress out of finding an apartment that feels like home. James also loves teaching leasing classes and mentoring new agents, and he is excited to commit to growing a rentals-focused team who will live up to one of his favorite client reviews: "The real-estate process is full of odd people—James is a rare gem who is honest, helpful, and customer-focused. Thanks to his years of working with both renters and landlords, James has his finger on the pulse of the fast-paced Chicago rental market, and helps his clients secure some of the most competitive properties in the city. He prides himself on his knack for sifting through the often-overwhelming landscape of apartment listings to simplify the leasing experience; but what he is most proud of are the genuine connections he forges with his clients, several of whom have become friends he continues to meet for dinner or drinks long after a lease was signed. Rather than the number of deals closed or the amount he earns on a commission, James considers the most meaningful metric of his success to be referrals from former clients – people who tell their friends and family that not only will he find you a great apartment, James will be a pleasure to work with along the way.
When not showing apartments to clients, James can be found walking his pug Mo, playing tennis, cooking, or performing in cabarets and piano bars across the city.
